31 octo31 october. yesterday I saw a great work on stage,
it’s a rewriting of Checov Il gabbiano (in russo: Чайка, Čaika).
Woody Neri, director/actor/producer of the project did a terrific work
giving new life and irony to the original work.
And rewriting a masterpiece is not easy as it seems….
Without a theatre production they did a miracle.
Between Almodovar and a unique poetic vision, there are 8 actors on stage
8 unforgettable characters (this “Arkadina” is really new, strong and Nina’s
work Stefania Medri did, is one of the best performance
of italian “off theatre” in my opinion in this period of “theatrical confusion”)
In the italian market the project has been a real challenge.
The music selected, from Estate(Bruno Martino’s standard Chet Baker made it popular in the jazz world)
to “Ritornerai” ( italian vintage pop classic ) gave an oniric mood to some moments in the work.
Finally a work that doesn’t venerate Anton Cechovbut uses his genius to go ahead
,to say new things to gave a 2013 audience a “vision” on a masterpiece.
(some theatre professionals may feeel a bit “unsafe” in front of this work, but this is spositive in my opinion…)
It’s on stage till saturday here, if you want to see a strong work , go!!ber. yesterday I saw a great work on stage,
